22, 2004 Update
1.
Track & Field Summit - The MHSAA will be hosting
a track & field summit in Winnipeg this Tuesday January
27th. The Purpose of this summit will be to review high
school track & field in the province, qualifications
for provincials, etc. Information is available on the
MHSAA website. Cost is $10.00 per person and lunch will
be provided. It is not too late to register. Contact Carey
Lasuik at the MHSAA office for further information.

Champions - The next Champions cross-mentoring
program will be held in Winnipeg on February 6th &
7th. This program provides a great opportunity for high
school student leaders to speak to grade 5 classes about
drugs and alcohol, peer pressure, making the right choices
etc. Information and registration forms are available
on the MHSAA website. For further information contact

CNIB - The Canadian National Institute for the
Blind has a calendar fundraiser. The calendars sell for
$30.00 and schools would keep $7.50 per calendar sold.
There are a number of daily and monthly prizes. It is
an excellent fundraiser and a great way to support the

Floorball - The dates for the long awaited high
school floorball tournament have now been released. This
tournament will be held on April 16th & 17th at Grant
Park High School in Winnipeg. We are hoping to make it
a boys' and a girls' tournament. Please contact Morris
at 925-5641 or morris@mhsaa.mb.ca
to signify if your school would be interested. There will
be a nominal entry fee, however all participants will
receive a t-shirt and pizza. There is still time to organize
a clinic for your school. Contact Brian at 925-5643 or

Annual General Meeting - The MHSAA Annual General
Meeting will be held in Portage La Prairie on June 20th
- 22nd. Plan now to attend. This is a great opportunity
to become involved with the MHSAA legislative process
and at the same time meet with your peers from across
the province. You may also think about running for the
board of directors. Positions up for nomination include:
2 urban representatives and 2 rural representatives. For

Updates - All Updates will now be stored on the
website. Minutes from past meetings are also on the website
for your reference, as is the constitution and other areas
of the handbook. Please refer to them.
7.
School Logos - Just a reminder, if you have not
already done so, please submit your school logo so that
it can be posted on the MHSAA website. This is a great
opportunity to have all logos visible, and schools use
them for tournaments.
8.
Email Addresses - Please ensure that all email
addresses from your school have been accurately entered
onto your school information sheet. Also, this year, we
have added a place for guidance councilors' email address
as well, and we will send scholarship information to them.
Please ensure that all information is updated including
school website etc.
9.
Provincial Baseball - This year's baseball championships
will be on June 11th & 12th. Gerry Falk from Carman
Collegiate will be convening this championship. Baseball
will be recognized as a sanctioned MHSAA Championship
in the 2004-2005 school year.
