H1N1- for the most updated information out the H1N1 visit the MHSAA website at www.mhsaa.ca The MHSAA Board has recommended no handshaking at games or tournaments, but rather three cheers or a nod of appreciation to the opponents.

“AAA” Boys Volleyball Championships – There has been a change in venue for the “AAA” Boys volleyball championship. The “AAA” Boys host school is now Linden Christian at 877 Wilkes Ave. The co convenors are: Nick Janzen at njanzen@lindenchristian.org and Mark Glor at markglor@lindenchristian.org. The phone number at Linden Christian is 989-6730.

“AAA” Girls Volleyball Championships – Please note that the girls “AAA” convenor as listed in the handbook has changed. It is now Mandy Green of Balmoral Hall. Her email address is: mgreen@balmoralhall.com and her phone number is: 784-1600.

Volleyball Deadline dates - Please note the Volleyball deadline dates for Zone playdowns, wildcard/seeding submissions is on page 32 and 33 of the Provincial Handbook or on our website on page; http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/sports/volleyball.php NOTE: for the “AAA” Coaches, please note the venue/convenor changes in #2 and #3.

Harv-Al Coach of the Month- Congratulations to Jo Voth of Garden Valley in Winkler, Steve Rebizant of Steinbach, and Pam Gerbrandt and Stephanie Friesen both of Linden Christian School who have been recognized as MHSAA Coaches of the Month.

A reminder to all schools, that all tournaments must be registered on line with the MHSAA. Hosting schools, not registering may be fined, and schools participating in non-registered, non-sanctioned events may also be fined. Tournament results- All schools hosting tournaments must submit a complete set of results by the Monday noon following. These results will be posted on the MHSAA website. The results must be in full and include all round robin or pool play as well as play-offs. The MHSAA uses these results to help with the ranking process and if we do not get complete results, then we cannot do our job effectively. Please submit the results in full, in order to avoid a fine.

MHSAA Handbook- The MHSAA HANDBOOK is located on the website as a PDF and can be downloaded. Please ensure that all coaches are familiar with regulations and deadlines concerning their sport as well as eligibility rules, wildcard information, etc.

Dr. Dale Iwanoczko Memorial Volleyball Scholarship application form now posted at http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/forms.php. Four $750.00 scholarships will be awarded. Each school may nominate one male and one female athlete. This is a great way to recognize your volleyball players and assist with the cost of post secondary education.

Team Manitoba is on the hunt for qualified individuals interested in a position on Mission Staff for the next two interprovincial Games - the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 10th to 27th, 2011 and the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops, B.C. from August 4th to 14th, 2011. MASRC Indigenous Track and Field Meet - the first annual MASRC Indigenous Heritage Track & Field Meet will be on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the University of Manitoba Max Bell Centre. Events being offered include the 60m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 4x200m relay, shot put, high jump and long jump.
