1. A reminder that the deadline for the Credit Unions Scholar Athlete Awards is Wednesday May 19th, while the deadline for the Jostens Athlete of the Year awards is Friday May 21. 2. Deadline for nominations for the Student Manager of the Year award ($500.00 scholarship) is May 21. There is no nomination form for this, but a letter or e-mail outlining the student’s activities and why they deserve this recognition should be e-mailed to morris@mhsaa.ca.
3. Annual General Meeting: Still not too late to register, visit: http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/2010/AGM_Registration_form_only.pdf to down load your registration form.
4. The new MHSAA official Soccer Ball is the Umbro Dynamis Latimer ball. This is a good quality game ball. Home Run Spots currently has a special price for these balls at $40.00 each. Supplies are limited at this price.
5. The MHSAA is looking for an Urban Student rep to sit on the Board of Directors. This would be open to a student currently in grade 10 as it is for a two-year term. Further information is available from Morris. (morris@mhsaa.ca)
6. Coach of the Month – know a Coach that deserves to be recognized? Harv-Al Sports sponsors a rural and urban Coach of the Month. To nominate send an e-mail outlining the coaches contributions to info@mhsaa.ca
7. Deadline for On-Line Eligibility for Track, Rugby, Lacrosse, Urban Soccer, Fast pitch, and baseball is Friday May 14, 2010. Schools not meeting this deadline will face a $100.00 fine.
8. South Comes North Basketball Tournament - on January 13, 14, and 15, 2011 R.D. Parker will again host an invitational basketball tournament for senior varsity boys and girls. We are very interested in having teams come to Thompson from the Winnipeg Area. Two other competitive boys and girls teams from central or southern Manitoba will round out the tournament. The following is what we have to offer if you come our way to play basketball:
1. A competitive tournament guaranteeing a minimum of 4 games.
2. No entry fee.
3. Free accommodations in the school.
4. $200.00 towards each team’s travel expenses.
5. Assistance in organizing travel (we would like to arrange 2 buses to transport 6 teams, each at our special rate).
6. Special northern hospitality; we are planning entertaining events for the athletes and will arrange educational tour on request (i.e. museum, mine, Pisew Falls).

9. Zone 6 will be hosting an Open Cross Country Meet on Wednesday September 29, 2010 in Spruce Woods Provincial Park. Entry Deadline is September 24, 2010 to Marvin Gundrum at Westmount School mgundrum@prspirit.ca.
