MHSAA Update

1. Basketball overtime - the length of the overtime periods for Provincial Championships, interzones and wildcard games will be as follows: JV - 4 minutes, varsity - 5 minutes. (game times are: JV - 8 minute quarters and Varsity 10 minute quarters)
2. Classic Games Collection - Basketball Manitoba has recently launched a streaming video of select basketball games. If you have any games that fit this theme, please contact Adam Wedlake at adam@basketballmanitoba.ca
3. Coaches- make sure that you review the MHSAA Handbook for all the information pertaining to your team including deadline dates, wildcard information, eligibility etc. Phys Ed teachers all have handbooks. It is your responsibility to be aware of all regulations pertaining to your sport.
4. Message from Manitoba Riding for the Disabled Association:
February 14 & 15th at Assiniboia Downs - Manitoba Riding for the Disabled will be hosting its 10th Annual Winter Market & Fair Fundraiser. One area of this fundraiser is our "Gently Used Items Table". If you have household items that you don't use and would want to donate -we will take it! The donated items are sold at our fundraiser and the money raised goes directly back to the disabled children in our program so they may continue in our program.
Items that we cannot accept are clothing, magazines, old electronic appliances (8 tracks, old microwaves).

5. Manitoba High School Sport Hall of Fame- Nominate someone now for the MHSAA Hall of Fame. This is a new initiative of the MHSAA. Further information available at http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/award/coach_volunteer.php
6. Dairy Farmers of Manitoba will be hosting a Nutritional Forum on March 6 at the Greenwood Inn , 1715 Wellington Ave (near the airport), from 8:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Registration is $50.00. Further information is available at www.milk.mb.ca or call 488.2097 ext 231 or 1.800.567.1671.
7. The Coaching Manitoba Excellence Awards aim to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements and significant contributions coaches make. The award does not reflect the accomplishments and contributions of a coach in any one-year; rather, the awards are designed to acknowledge the contributions a coach has made to his/her sport and athletes over a number of years. Deadline to make a submission is Monday February 16, 2009. For details... www.coachingmanitoba.ca
8. Portage Collegiate has an opening for its JV girls BBall tournament on Jan 30/31.
