MHSAA Update

1. There will be a basketball referee's clinic in Teulon, on Saturday, December 13, 2008, beginning at 9:00 AM and concluding at 4:00 PM. The clinic will be conducted by certified clinicians of the MABO. Those interested in attending are asked to be in contact with Heather Booy, at Basketball Manitoba (925 5775),or Rod Ledohowsky (886 2593), at the Teulon Collegiate.
2. The Western Canadian Campus Recreation Conference being held at the University of Manitoba from February 5-7, 2009. We are looking for high school students to volunteer for the conference. The conference will have students and professionals in the recreation programs and Campus recreation areas. We are looking for student volunteers to assist us with the conference and also students that would like to attend the conference. 3. Dr. Dale Iwanoczko Memorial Volleyball Scholarship application form now posted at http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/forms.php. Four $750.00 scholarships will be awarded. Each school may nominate on male and one female athlete. This is a great way to recognize your volleyball players and assist with the cost of post secondary education. Deadline for applications is this Friday, December 12, 2008.
4. FIBA Basketball Scoresheets - FIBA basketball scoresheets are now available through the MHSAA office. Cost is $6.25 for a package of 25 scoresheets. For further information, or to place your order, contact info@mhsaa.ca, or call Jo-Ann at 925-5640.
5. Remember to take advantage of Sport Manitoba Travel Assistance if you have traveled to a MHSAA Provincial Championship. Check out http://www.sportmanitoba.ca/downloads/Athlete_Travel.pdf for more information.
6. A youth football team for kids aged 10 to 14 has begun in the Baldur and Glenboro region, and they are looking for equipment and uniforms. If there are any schools or

7. 2009 Cross Country Running Championships - If anyone is interested in hosting the 2009 Cross Country Running Championships next October, please contact Carey at 925-5642
8. Basketball time/shot clocks - Just a friendly reminder that the length of basketball games for Provincial Championships, interzones and wildcards is 10 minute quarters for varsity and 8 minute quarters for JV. As well, as of this year, we will be using a 24 second shot clock for all Basketball Championships.

11. Ecole St. Jean-Baptiste recently acquired a used Universal Gym
with the brand name being Global Gym and Fitness. It's a great machine but
a few parts are missing. I heard at SAG that a few schools had dismantled
theirs and were planning on getting rid of their machine.
Here's a list of what we need:
-the seat for the leg press;
-the stool for the shoulder press;
-the handle bars for the shoulder press;
-the bench for the bench press;
-the pulleys and extention for the lat pull down;
-the pull-up bars.
