1. Coaching Manitoba presents: 2007 Super Seminar for Coaches Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Maples Collegiate & Maples Multiplex, featuring keynote speaker, former NHL and Canadian Olympic Coach Pat Quinn. 2. Sport Medicine Council is pleased to present Terry Orlick, a world renowned leader in sport and performance psychology. Orlick will be presenting a Cal Botterill Legacy Lecture – Making a Difference at the University of Winnipeg Eckert Grammate Hall, on Thursday, September 27 at 7PM. Admission is free. 3. Champions Cross Mentoring Program – The next Champions workshop has been scheduled for October 4th & 5th, 2007. Please note that this is now a Thursday and Friday to avoid conflicts with weekend tournaments. The Champions Program is a leadership initiative that focuses on dealing with peer pressure, making the right choices, saying no to drugs and alcohol. High school student leaders that attend the workshop go on to act as mentors in grade 5 classrooms, speaking on the same issues and helping the younger students to develop their skills. 4. New Volleyball rule – We have just been informed that there is new clarification for a volleyball rule dealing with jousting at the net. It is as follows:

New Joust Rule: FIVB and Volleyball Canada
Effective September 2007

Rule 9.1.2.3 (replaces existing rule 9.1.2.3)
If simultaneous hits by opponents over the net leads to extended contact with the ball, play continues.

5. Changing on the bench – Changing at the bench for boys and girls teams is not acceptable. Please ensure that your teams use the change room. Schools can be fined if this rule is violated.

8. TOURNAMENTS LOOKING FOR TEAMS

MacGregor is looking for more teams for our junior varsity boys volleyball tournament on Friday, October 12th. Tournament will run from noon on Friday into the evening. Looking for at least two more teams. marriottjbryan@canoemail.com

10. Tim Lee at Inwood School is looking for a simply scoreclock to permanently install in their gym. He is also looking for some portable bleachers. If you have replaced any of these two items and still have the old items, please call Tim at 278-3347.
