  1. Teams Looking for Tournaments/Tournaments Looking for Teams Message Board – this section of our website is experiencing technical difficulties. For the time being, we will be circulating this information through updates. We hope to have this section of our website corrected in the near future.     Vincent Massey High School in Brandon, JV boys volleyball team is looking for tournaments Contact Kurt Hunter at hunts86@hotmail.com

    Scott Sparkman from Beaver Brae- Kenora (807-468-6401) is looking for a Varsity Boys Basketball tournament Jan 11-12 or Jan 18-19 or Feb 8, 9.

    The Ashern JV Girls volleyball team is looking for tournaments. Please contact Andrew at: mcphera@LAKESHORESD.MB.CA

    St. Claude School Varsity Girls Volleyball is looking for a tournament on the weekend of October 12 & 13th. Contact Courtney DeSpiegelaere at 379-2441 cdespiegelaere@prspirit.ca

    St. Paul's Collegiate (Elie) is looking for tournaments for our Varsity Girls and JV Girls volleyball teams. If anyone is hosting a tournament and has any openings please contact Craig Baron at 353-2084 or cbaron@prsdmb.ca

    Maples Collegiate is looking for a Varsity Boys Volleyball Team for its September 21-22 Tournament. Interested teams please contact Ed Alexiuk at 632-6325

  2. Manitoba Curling Academy Program – The Manitoba Curling Association has developed two full credit courses that have received Department of Education approval and can be offered to meet the new Phys. Ed requirements for 2008. A Level 1 and 2 Technical Coaching Courses are available. For more information, contact Elain at 925-5723 extension 2, or mca.development@curlmanitoba.org.

  3. Athelte of the Week. Start thinking about nominating an athlete of the Week. You may use the on line form. This is primarily for grade 12 students.

  4. Graduating All-Star Banquet & Match: The Manitoba Volleyball Association will be holding the 2007 A/AA/AAA & AAAA Grad All-Star festivities on Saturday, December 8, 2007. In an effort to assist coaches with the nomination of deserving athletes we are asking all volleyball coaches submit the names of their top four graduating players to the MVA by Friday September 28th. Please go to http://www.manitobavolleyball.com/files/Identification%20form.pdf and download the identification form and fax back to the MVA office at 925-5786. A list of all players identified will then be posted to the MVA website at www.manitobavolleyball.com by the first week of October. Also, now available online (http://manitobavolleyball.com/index.asp?Page=19) are the nomination forms for coach, official and player of the year. Please be sure to nominate any deserving individual by the November 8th deadline. If you have any question please call the MVA office at 925-5783

  5. Champions Cross Mentoring Program – The next Champions workshop has been scheduled for October 4th & 5th, 2007. Please note that this is now a Thursday and Friday to avoid conflicts with weekend tournaments. The Champions Program is a leadership initiative that focuses on dealing with peer pressure, making the right choices, saying no to drugs and alcohol. High school student leaders that attend the workshop go on to act as mentors in grade 5 classrooms, speaking on the same issues and helping the younger students to develop their skills.   6. ExNet System Website School Information Sheets – Just three weeks left to enter your coaches’ email addresses and enrollment numbers on the ExNet Website School Information pages. Entering the CORRECT email addresses is absolutely crucial!! We communicate important information such as championship schedules, scholarships, sport information, etc. through these emails. IF a school does not enter a coaches email address, they will not receive information that may be pertinent to their team. Reminder – you will need to enter enrollment numbers before you can do any eligibility sheets

  7. Eligibility Appeals – Schools wishing to Appeal the eligibility of a student must submit their appeal to the MHSAA office in writing, no later than September 14, 2007. Information required for an appeal is outlined on page 8 of the Provincial Handbook and can be submitted by fax (925-5624) or email (morris@mhsaa.ca).

  8. Eligibility deadlines:
    Golf - September 18th.
    Cross Country Running – October 5th
    Rural Soccer – October 5th.

  9. Coaches Cards - Coaches Cards can be purchased from the MHSAA for a cost of $10.00 per coach. They are a great way to recognize volunteers who dedicate time to your teams. This card offers a discount at Boston Pizza and Home Run Sports and Birchwood Automotive Group, free beverage at McDonald’s Restaurants, Free entry to regular season games at the University of Winnipeg, University of Manitoba and Brandon University as well as all MHSAA Provincial Championships.
