MHSAA Update

1.. 2008 Annual General Meeting - The MHSAA Annual meeting will take place June 15 - 17 at the Canad Inn Portage La Prairie.  Plan now to attend.  The registration form has been posted on the website, http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/forms.php. Don delay, register today!  Accommodations are limited.
 
2.. "A" Basketball - are looking for a home for the 2008-09 Provincial Championships.  If you are interested in hosting the Provincial "A" High School Basketball Championships (either boys, girls or both) on March 12-14, 2009, please contact Carey at 925-5642.
 
3.. Eligibility Deadline for Soccer, Fastpitch, baseball and track have been extended to Wednesday, May 21st, 2008.
 
4.. Grey Cup Legacy High School Coach of the Year Nomination forms are now on the website. Check out http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/Grey_Cup_Legacy_application.pdf for more details or to nominate a coach
 
5.. Scholarships and Athlete Awards - The Credit Unions Scholar /Athlete Award, Jostens Athlete of the year, and Super 8 - Super 8 Athlete of the year applications are now posted on the website, http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/forms.php. Don't miss the opportunity to nominate your athletes. Deadline for applications is Friday, May 30, 2008.
 
6.. FIBA Basketball - It has been brought to our attention that FIBA will be changing the court lines for both the key and 3 point line in the next couple of years.  Please be advised that MHSAA will not follow this new change as a considerable number of schools have just spent the time and money converting to the existing lines.
 
7.. 2008 Pan American Men's Volleyball Cup - June 2-7     Winnipeg, MB - UM Investors Group Athletic Centre.  Event & Ticket info at http://www.volleyball.ca/index.asp?page=295 Come out and cheer on your Winnipeg based Canadian Men's National Volleyball Team at the 2008 Pan American Men's Volleyball Cup June 2-7! We hope you will consider taking advantage of this great ticket opportunity to treat your school or volleyball group, while supporting Team Canada at the same time!  The 2008 Pan American Men's Volleyball Cup will include 8 teams: Canada, Cuba, USA, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Trinidad & Tobago.
 
8.. R.D. Parker's "South Comes North" Varsity boys and girls Basketball Tournament on Jan. 9 & 10, 2009 in Thompson.  Some of the perks for southern teams willing to travel north are: No entry fee, $200 towards a teams travel costs, assistance with arranging travel, free accommodations in the school, educational tours, entertainment and a whole lot of northern hospitality! 9.. 2nd Annual St. John's High School Alumni Golf Tournament
  July 15, 2008 at Larter's Golf and Country Club

10.. Track Spikes - for the MILK Provincial Track and Field Championships at the Pan-AM stadium, only 9mm ceramic cone spikes (not steel) are allowed.  You may purchase them at City Park Runners 837-9242 (on Portage Ave) or Stride Ahead 477-4975 in the Grant Park shopping mall.
