1. 5 Pin Bowling - The Manitoba Five Pin Bowling
Federation  is introducing a new format for this year's Provincial
Tournament, featuring zone playoffs and 16 teams advancing to the High

2. The deadline Manitoba Foundation for Sports Scholarship
applications is March 28, 2008.  The  Manitoba Foundation for Sports
scholarship program administrated by Sport Manitoba was established to
support young athletes of Sport Manitoba partners, who continue to
participate in amateur sport while pursuing a post secondary education on a
full time basis.  The program's emphasis is placed on athletes who have
competed at the provincial level or higher during 2007, and who have
maintained a high level of academic standing, while showing a commitment to
amateur sport through their involvement in coaching, officiating and
volunteer activities.. Preference will be given to athletes attending
university or college in Manitoba and enrolled in a related field, pursing a
career in sport.  Applications are available at

3. Sport Manitoba Fundraising tradeshow - Sport Manitoba
is hosting a Fundraising tradeshow on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 3:30 pm -
7:30 pm in the Sport Manitoba Conference centre, 200 Main Street, 2nd Floor.
It's one-stop shopping for lots of ideas to raise funds for your team,
group, club!  Admission is FREE! For more information, contact Laurel

4. Manitoba Volleyball Association Hall of Fame - the
Manitoba Volleyball Association is seeking nominations for their Hall of
Fame.  Nominations are accepted in the following categories, Team, Player,
and Builder.  Any school program that has won a minimum of three Provincial
Championships in a five year span is considered for induction under the team

5.Scholarships and Awards

The Alexander Josephson Memorial Hockey Scholarship is awarded in honor of
Alexander Josephson, a student, and hockey player at St. John's Ravenscourt
School, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2005. He was a
member of the 2003 Provincial Championship Team and selected as a Provincial
All-Star.  The recipient of this scholarship is a player who demonstrates
strong leadership and team play, high scholastic standing, a hard-working
attitude, and is proceeding to a post secondary education. A male and female
hockey player will each receive a $2,000.00 scholarship. Deadline is April
7, 2008.

Todd Davison Never Alone Scholarship -The Never Alone Foundation would like
to award the Todd Davidson Memorial Scholarship ($1,000.00) to a High School
athlete who(this award is open to athletes participating in all MHSAA
sanctioned sports):

- Has risen above personal challenges in their life

- Shows a hard working, diligent approach to the game

- Displayed strong leadership and team play

- Is respected by teammates and coaches

- Is proceeding to a post secondary education on a full or part time basis.

Friar Nicolson Hockey Scholarship - The Manitoba Hockey Players Foundation
will, be awarding two $1,000.00 scholarship to an outstanding male and
female high school hockey player. The award, which will be selected by a
committee representing the Hockey Foundation, is named in honor of the late
Ken "FRIAR" Nicolson, former CJOB Hockey Broadcaster and member of the
original Provincial "AAAA" High School Hockey Committee.  The deadline has
been EXTENDED  to Friday, March 14.  Application forms are available on

Bain/Stevenson Hockey Scholarship - Winnipeg Physiotherapist, D'Arcy Bain
will also be presenting a $500.00 scholarship named in honour of long time
Winnipeg hockey coach, Fred Stevenson.

ED BELFOUR HOCKEY AWARD For Outstanding Player in Manitoba High School
Hockey.  Ed Belfour, currently a member of Leksands IF in Sweden, played
High School Hockey for two and one half years as a member of the Carman
Cougars. Belfour also played at the University of North Dakota, the Florida
Panthers, the Chicago Black Hawks, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars and Toronto
Maple Leafs. Ed Belfour agreed to sponsor this award because he believes
that High School Hockey plays a very important role in Manitoba's hockey
system.  Deadline for applications is Monday, April 7, 2008.  Applications

WINNIPEG JETS ALUMNI AND FRIENDS HOCKEY SCHOLARSHIPS - A $500.00 scholarship
will be presented to one male and one female graduating high school hockey
player to be used towards post secondary education in Manitoba.  The
deadline is April 7, 2008.  Application forms are available on

Garett Lee Sidor Memorial Basketball Scholarship - Garett Lee Sidor, a
student at Windsor Park Collegiate was an outstanding young student athlete.
His life tragically ended on May 13, 2007. Garett participated in many
sports, including hockey, volleyball and basketball.  Garett's friends and
Family have set a scholarship to be awarded to a male "AAA" high school
basketball player who displays sportsmanship, leadership and outstanding
ability. A scholarship in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded annually.

Canada Basketball and The Canadian School Sport Federation (CSSF), would
like to announce the Canada Basketball Scholarship Program. Established in
2006, these scholarships will be offered to deserving male and female high
school basketball players, (5 scholarships of $500.00 each). We would like
you to recommend one male and one female student athlete for the opportunity
to be awarded one of these scholarships.  The Deadline is April 11.
