MHSAA Update

April 14, 2008
Number 16

1.. SAG 2008 - The MHSAA  has just been informed that the Provincial in-service (SAG) for 2008 has been moved one week later, (November 28, 2008) to the last weekend in November, which is the date that has been scheduled for the Provincial Volleyball Championships.  We confirmed the date of SAG last year as the third week in November as it was in 2007.  We made our schedule according to this information.  Unfortunately the change was made and we were not informed until recently.  We have two options.  To leave the dates as is, and conflict with SAG, or to move the Provincial Volleyball Championships one weekend earlier (ie the weekend of November 21, 22, 2008.)  Moving the date later (into December) would cause major conflict with basketball season.

The Board of Directors will discuss this issue at the April 25th meeting.  If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact mhsaa@mhsaa.ca.

2.. Rugby - High School Rugby is not at affiliated with the MHSAA.  Several years ago, we were informed that the High School Rugby League was going to adhere to all MHSAA rules and regulations, however we have received information that they have now have their own eligibility rules, which are quite different from MHSAA rules.  The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association does not recognize or acknowledge High School Rugby.
