MHSAA Update

1. Coaches Cards –are now available. The cost is $10.00 each, and they are valid for 2 years. Offers included free admission to MHSAA provincials, a discount at Boston Pizza, Home Run Sports and the Birchwood Auto Group, and a free drink at McDonald’s. If you want to get cards for your school for Volleyball Provincials, ORDER TODAY! The deadline to ensure that you will receive them in time is November 7th. You can do this by emailing a list of the coaches for your school, to info@mhsaa.ca.

2. “Feel Good Sport Stories” – Our website now includes “feel good” stories for the sport enthusiast (on the left hand side of the page, at the bottom of the orange menu). IF you have any good stories, please share them with us and allow us to include them on the website.

3. Basketball Scorekeepers required – The Winnipeg Senior Women’s Basketball League is looking for some dependable students to score/time keep games on a regular, weekly basis. Games take place at the University of Manitoba. The league offers honorariums to scorekeepers and schedulers. 4. NCAA Basketball Rulebooks and Scoresheets are available through the MHSAA. Order early to ensure availability. Forms are available on the MHSAA website http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/rulebook_scoresheet_aug04.pdf Please fax or email your order to Christine at info@mhsaa.ca or 925-5624 (fax)

5. Hockey Canada along with Hockey Manitoba, the cities of Winnipeg and Selkirk, and the Province of Manitoba are proud to bring International Hockey back to Manitoba with the 2007 IIHF World Women’s Hockey Championships, April 3-10! The 2007 IIHF WWHC will feature the top nine teams in the world including: Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, China, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The event will see 17 games played at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre, with 3 games taking place at the Selkirk Recreational Complex. Volunteer and be a part of the excitement!!

Submission deadline is November 15, 2006. Applications are available on the Hockey Manitoba website (www.hockeymanitoba.mb.ca).

7. Stair Climb for Clean Air 2006 – The Manitoba Lung Association is hosting a fundraising event, “Conquer the Globe – Stair Climb for Clean Air”. This event offers both individual and team events and participants will climb 29 floors (580 stairs). 8. Hockey Eligibility Sheets – just a reminder, that the deadline for completion of your online eligibility sheets for hockey is November 14.

9. A reminder to Hockey Coaches that the deadline to certify for the 2006-07 season is December 1st, 2006. Coaches and bench personnel not having proper certification by December 1 will not be permitted behind the bench and will be in danger of forfeiting games.
