MHSAA Update

May 15, 2007
Number 26

  1. Rural Track and Field Convenor Email Address has changed. The handbook lists Pat Alexander as the convenor, which is correct. His email address in the handbook is incorrect. His email address is: pat.alexander@gvsd.ca

  2. Track & Field Multi Event – Just a reminder that multi event athletes are required to compete in all four multi event events (100m, 800m, shot put, long jump). AND if they so choose, they can also compete in a relay, as well as any individual event.

  3. Track and Field Schedules are posted on our website. Other information, such as standards, tables, records and other information can be found on http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/sports/track.php (or by “clicking” on Track and Field on our homepage)

  4. Grey Cup Legacy Coach of the Year Nomination forms are now on the website. Check out http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/Grey_Cup_Legacy_application.pdf for more details or to nominate a coach

  5. Scholarships and Athlete Awards – The Credit Unions Scholar Athlete Award, Josten’s Athlete of the year, and Super 8 – Super 8 applications are now posted on the website, http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pages/forms.php. Don’t miss the opportunity to nominate your athletes for these awards. Deadline for applications is Friday, May 25th, 2007.

  6. AGM- start planning now to attend the Annual General Meeting, which will be held at the Victoria Inn in Brandon, June 17, 18 and 19. Accommodations are limited so register now!! Download a registration form at http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/AGM_2007_Registration_form.pdf.

  7. Basketball rules – MHSAA has adopted FIBA basketball rules, effective this upcoming, 2007-2008 school year. This will mean changing or adding the lines on the gym floors to accommodate the different size key and three-point line. This can be done at a reasonable price, using tape, then painted on the next time the floor is re-done. We are hoping that all schools will have made this change by 2010

  8. FIBA Line paint – Big Sky Enterprises has provided us with reasonable quotes for putting down the FIBA wide key and new three point lines. They have three different choices. Those being; a) place vinyl lines that will last for a season or two. b) paint the actual lines, including sanding area lines to create a bond. This process still requires a protective coat, which custodial staff can do, or Big Sky can do for an additional fee. C) On Non wood floors, a different paint and process is required, including stripping off the wax and then painting the lines using a 2 part epoxy paint. For more information contact Shawn Atamanchuk at 831-6601.

  9. May Shot Clock Sale – Centaur Products Inc. is featuring shot clocks as its Sale Item for May. Shot Clocks with Game time are available for $2,890 and without Game time for $1,990. This is a $500 - $600 savings off the regular price. For further information, contact jerry@centaurproducts.com, or Pauline@centaurproducts.com or call 888-430-3300.

  10. Staff Changes – if there are any staff or administrative changes in your school starting in the 2007-2008 season, please email this information to morris@mhsaa.ca, so that it can be included in the September edition of the PACER.
