  1. Eligibility Deadline dates – Due to technical difficulties with the ExNet System, the eligibility deadlines for basketball, curling and wrestling have been extended to February 15th, 2007.

  2. Coaching Manitoba's "Coach of the Month" program recognizes outstanding Manitoba coaches. Nominations are accepted for coaches at all levels of sport province-wide, although the coach must be in active coaching season. The recipient will be featured on Global News Final at 10:30 the last Monday of the month. In addition, coaches receive a great prize package!   3. Canadian Olympic Committee Calls for Applications for 47th International Olympic Academy Session in Olympia, Greece from June 19 – July 3, 2007. The aim of the IOA is to preserve and spread the Olympic Spirit, and to study and implement the educational and social principles of Olympism. The Session is open only to participants between the ages of 20 and 35 at the time of the Session (IOA policy). General information on the IOA is available at www.ioa-sessions.org.   5. SAG – The Manitoba Physical Education Teachers are looking for presenters. If you have a teaching idea, program, initiative or project that could be shared with other physical and health educators or if you have expertise in Leadership, Outdoor Pursuits, Opportunities for All, Effective Teaching Practices, Health, Concepts of Movement, Community Connection, please consider presenting at the MPETA SAG conference on Friday, November 23, 2007.   7. Student Leadership Conference - The National Federation of State High School Associations will be hosting a student leadership conference in Indianapolis from July 20-22, 2007. Schools will be eligible to send 4-6 students along with 1 or 2 chaperones. The conference will include many workshops, community service project and so on. Student's hotel and meals will be covered there, however transportation is the student's responsibility. Please contact Morris at morris@mhsaa.ca or 925-5641 for further info.

  8. Badminton Scoring System - Badminton has gone to a new scoring system which will be in effect for this upcoming 2007 badminton championships in Gimli on May 4 & 5. For details please visit our website under current items and latest news. (you must win by two points, with a point cap of 30 points)

  9. Scholarship – Hockey and Basketball Scholarship applications will be posted on the MHSAA website, www.mhsaa.ca, on Tuesday, February 13, 2007.

  10. Annual General Meeting – The MHSAA Annual Meeting will take place at the Victoria Inn in Brandon on June 17, 18 & 19, 2007. Plan now to attend.

  11. 2007 Maccabi Games (Jewish Athletes) – The 2007 Maccabi Games will be held in Orange County, California from August 12-17, 2007. This is an opportunity for Jewish Athletes between 13-16 years of age to participate in a multi-sport competition. The event will feature many individual sports, including: Bowling, Dance, Golf, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Track & Field, as well as team sports that include Basketball, Girls Soccer and Volleyball, Boys Baseball and in-line Hockey.
