MHSAA Update

November 7, 2005

1. Fastball equipment -Face masks for batting helmets will be mandatory starting in the 2006 season, for the sport of Fastball.

2. Open Forum - The Committee On Disordered Eating is hosting an Open Forum, Thursday, November 17, 2005 featuring guest speaker Dr. Dean Kriellaars (Faculty of Medicine) speaking on Males, Body Image and Steroid Use

Time: 3:30 pm-4:30 pm

3. Volleyball wildcard Schedules - all volleyball wildcard schedules will be published on the MHSAA website. The 'posting' schedule is as follows:

"AAAA", JV Rural and JV Urban will be posted early PM on Saturday, November 12
"A", "AA" and "AAA" will be posted in the morning of Thursday, November 17
(Please review pages 29-35 of the provincial handbook for further rules and regulations)

4. Basketball Manitoba is offering a clinic on "HOW TO BUILD A PROGRAM" on Saturday, December 10 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Glenlawn Collegiate. The cost is $40.00. Bring your own basketball, participation gear and a lunch. For more information, contact Irv Hanec at 925-5773 or ihanec@basketball.mb.ca.

5. The next Champions Cross Mentoring workshop will be February 17 & 18 of 2006. Contact Ron Paseshnik at 925-5643 or champions@mhsaa.ca for more information.

6. All Hockey eligibility sheets must be filled in by November 15. All rostered players and AP players must be entered to a maximum of 23 names. No additions after this date.

7. Eligibility Appeals - Any eligibility appeals should be in to the MHSAA office by December 6, 2005. See page 6 in the Handbook for details.
