Welcome Back!

1. River East Outdoor Meet – will be held on Thursday April 17 from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Cost is $4.00/athlete or $50.00/team. Field events will be done cafeteria style and it is a “sticker” meet. For more information, contact Danielle Fontaine at 338-4611 or email her at dfontaine@retsd.mb.ca

2. Invitational Juvenile boys (U17) basketball tournament - Beaver Brae in Kenora, is looking for three teams to complete their invitational tournament on April 28-29. They really would like to keep this “school based”. For more information, contact Scott Sparkman at (807) 468-6401.

4. Hockey Scholarships –Just a reminder that the deadline for the Ed Belfour Award, as well as the Alexander Josephson and Winnipeg Jets Alumni and Friends hockey scholarship nominations is Wednesday, April 5th.

5. 5 pin Bowling - The 2nd Annual Manitoba High School Tournament event will be held in Winnipeg on Saturday, April 22. For further information, please check out http://www.mfpbf.org/high_school_tournament.htm

7. Basketball Summit – MHSAA will be hosting a basketball summit April 21st from
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Sport Manitoba Building, 200 Main Street. Registration forms are now available on the website - http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/BBall_Summit_Reg_Form.pdf

8. Volunteer Awards – We are currently looking for nominations/suggestion for certificates of recognition and Jostens zone volunteer of the year awards. Contact Mo with suggestion morris@mhsaa.ca or 925-5641.

9. Annual General Meeting – The MHSAA Annual General Meeting will take place June 18 – 20th in Portage La Prairie. Registration form now online http://www.mhsaa.mb.ca/pdfs/2006_agm_reg_form.pdf. Plan now to attend!

10. Board positions- There are several positions available on the MHSAA Board of Directors for the 2006-2007 school year. These positions are for a two-year term. For additional information, please contact Morris at 925-5641 or morris@mhsaa.ca.

11. Grey Cup Legacy Fund Awards brochure and hard copies of the application forms will be available on Tuesday, April 4th. You can also access the application forms at www.coachingmanitoba.ca (go to Coaching Development / Grey Cup Legacy). The deadline date for all award applications for 2006 will be Wednesday, May 31st, 2006. The awards are: Master Coach-in-Residence, Coaching Seminars, Coaching Scholarships.

12. Winnipeg Region Bingo – Winnipeg High schools may apply through Sport Manitoba Winnipeg Region to work a bingo on Saturday, June 24th. For additional information or a Bingo application, visit http://www.sportmanitoba.ca/downloads/Bingo_Application.pdf

13. Notices of Motions – It is now time to start thinking about Notices of Motion for the Annual General Meeting. The President’s Meeting will take place on April 26th and all motions must be submitted to the MHSAA office by Friday, April 21st.
