Provincial
Championship Rules and Regulations
General
Information
1. All
zones must have their representatives declared and submitted
to the Association office by the date listed in the handbook.
2. In
order for a zone to participate in a Provincial Championship,
that zone must compete in a zone or interzone playoff (a minimum
of two schools must participate in a zone league).
3. When
the rules of the Association are in conflict with the rules
of the Sport Governing Body, the rules of the Association
shall take precedence.
4. Zones
1, 2, 3, 12, 14, 16, must appoint two representatives to sit
on the organizing committee for the Provincial Track and Field
Championships. Zones that do not meet their obligations will
be forced to forfeit their performance bond.
Supervision
At all
MHSAA Provincial Championships, interzone games and wildcard
games, participants must have a teacher from that school in
attendance as a supervisor, or they may not be allowed to
compete and may forfeit their results. In individual sports
where it may be unrealistic for one teacher to accompany one
student, the zone may designate teacher/supervisors for athletes.
However, this must be a written request, signed by each involved
principal and submitted to the MHSAA, well in advance. The
teacher who is supposed to be supervising, the students from
the various schools as well should have a copy of the letter,
with them during the championship. When school teams have
non-teacher coaches, a teacher from that school, still must
supervise that team when advancing to Provincial playoffs.
Violation of this rule may result in a bond forfeiture up
to a maximum of $200.00.
