ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARD

Jostens High School Athlete of the Year Awards Presented

The winner of the 2005 Jostens Female High School Athlete of the Year is Marlee Bragg of Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School.

Marlee participated in volleyball, basketball, indoor and outdoor track. Marlee led her Royals to the Provincial "AAAA" Volleyball Championship, where she was selected Most Valuable Player. She was a member of the MVA Graduating All-Star team and named to the All-Manitoba team and received numerous MVP and All-Star awards. She was also a finalist for the Mike Burchuk Award as Outstanding Player in Manitoba High School Volleyball. Marlee also took top spot in the senior girls high jump at the recent McDonald's High School Track & Field Championships.

The 2005 Manitoba Jostens Male Athlete of the Year is Grant Rayner of Fort Richmond Collegiate.

Grant participates in basketball, volleyball and handball. He was co-captain of the varsity boys basketball team and was ranked as the top player in the Winnipeg Sun poll. He was selected as an all-star and most valuable player at numerous tournaments. In volleyball, he was also captain, selected MVP in a number of tournaments and was ranked as the eighth top player by the coaches.

Jostens Volunteer Awards

The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association is comprised of 16 Zones. Each zone is made up of a tremendous number of volunteers who put in countless hours as coaches, sport administrators, and league organizers. The MHSAA with the support of Jostens annually recognizes one individual in each zone for their contribution.
